Galveston revives its 1920s Bathing Beauties beauty pageant every June, when contestants in vintage swimwear compete at Saengerfest Park for the title once called the Pageant of Pulchritude. A Friday cocktail attire contest precedes Saturday's main pageant. The Galveston Historical Foundation has run the revival for over 16 years as the island's kickoff to summer tourist season.
