The oldest continuously operating choral festival in the Western Hemisphere, founded in 1873 by Maria Longworth Nichols with conductor Theodore Thomas. The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and May Festival Chorus perform a concentrated run of choral works at Music Hall each spring. The festival's founding helped bring Music Hall itself into being.
