One of the largest African American parades in the country, the Bud Billiken Parade has marched down Martin Luther King Jr. Drive from Bronzeville to Washington Park every August since 1929, followed by a back to school festival and picnic. It routinely draws crowds in the hundreds of thousands. The 2026 parade ran August 8 for its 97th year; the 2027 edition is expected on its traditional second Saturday of August.
